The big boys of the free email world, namely Google, Yahoo and Hotmail have zero tolerance towards users who abuse their mail accounts and use it to send UCE (unsolicited commercial email) to other email users. Here are a list of links which can be used to report such spam incidents so that their accounts can be permanently disabled by these providers.
- Gmail: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/request.py?hl=en&contact_type=abuse
- Yahoo: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ymail/spam.html
- Hotmail: Non- Hotmail customers should address an email to report_spam@nullhotmail.com, report_spam@nullmsn.com or report_spam@nulllive.com (Depending on the originating mail domain: hotmail or msn or live). Attach a copy of the spam email to this email and send it.

Hi and thanks for that outstanding article. I really like your blog and decided which I might tell you! 😀 Thanks a bunch!!!
This was really helpful. I kept getting spam sent from an Android device using yahoo mail and it was driving me crazy. Here in Toronto there are so many fake posts on job boards that we take a chance every time we look for work. Send a resume to 20 job posts and get 15 spam emails.
Wish these parasites would just get real jobs. So dishonest.
Anyway thanks so much for the help. I sent the message and the full headers and a few days later got an email thanking me and telling me they had shut down the spammers email.
A drop in the bucket but still pretty cool.
Hello Becky,
Thanks for your feedback and its nice to know this post made a small difference in helping you block unwanted emails from crowding your inbox.
Once upon a time, people who used Outlook Express for mail could report spam received from a Yahoo subscriber.
It seems that the above is no longer possible.
Every possible lead-in to a “Report spam to Yahoo” article I have been able to find contains or “goes to” some words about how mail programs other than Yahoo all include a ‘Report spam’ button or address.
This is NOT true.
I use Outlook Express for sending and receiving email. There is no Report Spam facet at Outlook Express.
Now there seems to be no way at all to report Yahoo-subscriber-sent garbage mail, also called spam. Okay, this lack really does not matter much since Yahoo’s response to complaint(s) about a spamming Yahoo subscriber deny that “whatever username” at yahoo.com is actually a Yahoo subscriber, OR that Yahoo mail is a thing incredibly easy to “spoof,” which I believe means to disguise a non-Yahoo address AS a Yahoo address.
WHY is Yahoo so easy to hack into?
WHY doesn’t Yahoo do something real about this problem, if Yahoo knows it exists?
WHAT are non-Yahoo-ers to do now when they receive spam apparently from a Yahoo subscriber?
WHY does Yahoo get away with allowing its’ subscribers to send to anyone, anything the garbage-sender wishes to, letting the spammer skip away happily, getting ready to harvest, buy, trade, or simply steal addresses of people who are tired of being discriminated against?
I use AT&T (same as sbcglobal.net) as part of my email address. There is no REPORT SPAM BY CLICKING HERE provided by AT&T. Don’t we who use AT&T pay enough to be allowed to protest being annoyed by senders of unsolicited C*** mail?
Dears sirs:
